Cruises Argentario Isola del Giglio and Giannutri
MINI CRUISES IN THE TUSCAN ARCHIPELAGO
The Maregiglio company is the leading company for sea transport to and from the southern islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
Since 1969 the company has been involved in the transport of people and vehicles to the island of Giglio and the island of Giannutri, with passion and professionalism.
Today Maregiglio also offers the possibility of small day trips to discover the wonders of the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago – Giglio and Giannutri – and the promontory of Monte Argentario.
Thanks to these excursions it will be possible to get closer to the naturalistic heritage of this special stretch of the Tuscan coast, and also to its historical and cultural heritage: the trips in fact include, upon reservation, also guided tours of the villages or archaeological treasures of the area, trekking routes and tastings. In fact, it will also be possible to get closer to the food and wine heritage of the area thanks to guided tastings and visits to wineries in the area.
During the excursions it will be possible to taste a fish-based lunch on board, or stop for a swim in the clear waters of one of the coves of the Argentario or its islands.
The boat used by MareGiglio for our excursions is the “Revenge” motor ship.
The “Revenge” is the most elegant of the boats in the Maregiglio fleet. The motor ship is made up of elegant lounges and a large open space; the boat is also suitable for organizing events and special days.
In the excursions to the islands and also the one along the Argentario coasts, you will have the opportunity to stop along the various small bays and coves otherwise not reachable, to swim and enjoy the crystal clear waters.
Interesting activities are offered on the islands of Giglio and Giannutri ranging from guided tours (always with qualified and expert local guides) to tastings of local products with visits to the farm.
The activities proposed on the island of Giannutri are usually the guided tour with an expert local guide to the archaeological area of Villa Domizia, and the excursion to the “Grottoni”.
The island of Giannutri in fact, thanks to its position in the south of Tuscany and its paradisiacal nature, in Roman times was an important residential center with its seaport, a place chosen to rest and laze. Here it is possible to visit with the guide of expert archaeologists the remains of the famous Villa Domizia, a Roman villa built here between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD.
On the island of Giglio the highlights are the guided tour of Giglio Castello and the visit of a local winery, with tasting of the Ansonica wine. The island in fact has an ancient wine tradition and has the typical terraced vineyards, typical of steep and steep lands.
