The Parco della Maremma, or Parco dell’Uccellina, is a protected natural area of ​​18,000 hectares in total, of which 8902 hectares of protected area in the municipalities of Grosseto, Magliano in Toscana and Orbetello.
Established in 1975, it was the first park in Tuscany, and is a site of immense naturalistic interest.

With its approximately 30 km of coastline that runs from Principina a Mare to Talamone, the park includes the famous beaches of Collelungo and Cala di Forno.

The park is home to a huge variety of different territories and ecosystems: the mouth of the Ombrone river, the Uccellina Mountains, the Pineta Granducale, the sandy beaches, the rocky coasts, the caves, but also the agricultural environment and the historic towers. The flora and fauna that inhabit it are very rich.
The Uccellina Park, or Alberese Natural Park, is one of the most interesting naturalistic sites in Tuscany.

what to see at the Parco dell'Uccellina

With its 30km of coastline and the richness of its environments, the Maremma Park offers an all-round experience. Visiting the Maremma without seeing the Alberese Park means not grasping the true essence of this land. The park offers a variety of unique and different ecosystems, from the wild beaches to the crystalline sea, to the marshy grounds to the Ombrone river, to the Uccellina mountains and to the countryside.
Within the reserve there are both long and sandy beaches and rocky coasts. The most important beaches of the nautical park are the Collelungo beach, the Marina di Alberese beach, the Principina a Mare beach, the Cannelle, Cala di Forno. Within the area it is possible to follow a series of fascinating itineraries, which lead to the discovery of the flora and fauna of the park, but also of archaeological treasures such as the ancient towers of the Uccellina. The reserve also offers a series of activities such as bicycle rental, carriage or horse riding, night visits, environmental education projects.
Inside the park it is possible to do educational visits, excursions on foot, by bicycle, by canoe and carriage, admiring the numerous species that populate it. The fauna of the park is in fact one of the strongest reasons to visit it: numerous wild animals and protected species live undisturbed here, wild boar, fallow deer, roe deer, foxes, badgers, wolves, wild cats, martens, and many species of birds of prey. Here the osprey has returned to nest.
